The resort itself was amongst the very best I’ve ever been to.  As I mentioned in the previous post, Ceiba Del Mar is on some of the most gorgeous beach front Mexico has to offer.  Wake up early enough and you’ll catch the sun rising over th ocean everyday.

With only 88 rooms in total, this is definitely a place you want to go if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and have a little privacy.  Every single room on the property boasts an ocean view and is always kept clean and well stocked by the staff.  I can’t exactly say I’m one for pampering myself, but even I had to notice and appreciate the supply of hand-made, local soaps, lotions and other toiletries.

One of the key features of the resort is its spa.  They use a wide variety of all natural, organic ingredients in their wide variety of treatments.  You can get anything from aromatherapy, to deep tissue massages, all the way to the Temazcal (Mayan Sweat Lodge).  I was lucky enough to be able to experience their 120min. (seriously) Mayan Balsamic massage and it was absolutely fantastic.  It was maybe a bit too ritualistic for my taste, but they definitely know what they’re doing.  The wand you see below is the instrument they use to test out which oil is the most suitable for each person.  It can be a little trippy, but it apparently works very well.

The other key element of the resort is the food.  Simply put, it was spectacular.  Chef Victor Solis takes his training in a variety of cuisines and combines it with fresh local ingredients to create some truly delicious dishes.  From his exquisite white chocolate lobster tail to something as simple as shrimp tacos, never once was I disappointed with any of the meals I enjoyed.  My only regret was not having more time to sample his other offerings.

Caprese Salad and Grilled Lobster Tail, served for lunch.

Overall, this trip was one of the most amazing I’ve been on.  Ceiba Del Mar and Puerto Morelos are both places I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to any of my family and friends.  I could honestly write a few pages about all the superlatives I’d have for this place, but I’d say go and experience it for yourself.  And if you need more convincing, I’ve left out a few minor details, so drop me a line =D.
